CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2004 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, and engine problems from the NHTSA complaint data — so it's not a model year we can recommend.

Same problem a lot of people are having with the 05 Escapes. Put a bunch of money into repair of the exhaust manifold and converter only to find out the computer is fried. Approx cost of repair about 2200 on top of the 1600 I paid 6 weeks ago. Ford knew this was a problem and issued TSA's and did nothing. Love the Escape, but will never buy another Ford. Class action suit should be filed. Look at all the complaints for the same issue on the 05 Escape!
