CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2004 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, and engine problems from the NHTSA complaint data — so it's not a model year we can recommend.

When turned heat on in winter of 2012. Constant fuel and exhaust fumes fill the interior making it impossible to use the heater on the car. Took vehicle to 2 Ford dealerships repair shops and neither could locate the problem. Also, took to independent car repair shop who had no luck as well. Now when I try to drive with the AC on the fumes come into the interior as well! This problem makes it impossible to use the heat and Ac in this vehicle! I cannot expose my 3 year old grandson to the constant fumes the invade the interior of the car while driving. Any one else have this problem?
