The contact owns a 2002 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving downhill at 40 mph and attempting to apply the brakes, the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floor board. The contact mentioned that in order to stop the vehicle he had to down shift and engage the emergency brake. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 176,000. Updated 3/14/13 the consumer stated both front brake hoses failed at the same time. Updated 03/21/13
Vehicle had a sound when being driven. Consumer took the vehicle to dealer to see where the sound was coming from. Dealer discovered that front wheel bearings, brakes, and rotors needed to be replaced.
