Ford Recall 00S25: Ford/Incorrect Rear Hubs
2001 Ford Escape
This condition could cause loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Wheels — Hubcap/Cover
- Summary
- Vehicle description: Some 4X2 sport utility vehicles not equipped with an antilock braking system may have inadvertently been built with 4X4 rear hubs instead of 4X2 hubs. If the incorrect hubs are installed on a 4X2 vehicle, the rear wheels can loosen, or in some cases, separate from the vehicle.
- Actions
- Dealers will inspect the rear hubs and, if necessary, replace them. Owner notification began September 25, 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673.
