The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of motive power and stalled. During the failure, the message "Low Coolant" was displayed, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed and determined that coolant had leaked into cylinder #3 and caused severe damage to the engine. The contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 69,000.

The contact's daughter owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The coolant temperature warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle was unmovable. The contact then purchased coolant and added coolant to the reservoir. The contact was able to drive the vehicle; however, the failure recurred within 2 hours. The contact added coolant to the vehicle and was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer, where the contact was informed that she would be charged a fee for a diagnostic test. The contact declined and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was purchased. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that her grandfather who was an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed her that coolant could be leaking into the engine. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 20-2234. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
