The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the driver's front door was opened, and the contact noticed a popping sound. The contact's husband inspected the vehicle and noticed that there were cracks within the door well where the check arm was connected. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall repair or special programs. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact was concerned about the failure, because four grandchildren were regular occupants in the vehicle. The contact was afraid that the doors would detach while the grandchildren were inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed.
