- Summary
- The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 36 complaints alleging a loss of braking ability in model year 2015-2017 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured by Ford Motor Company. The complaints allege a loss of braking ability that occurs while braking and is the result of a rear brake hose failure. The complaints also allege that the loss of braking ability occurs without any prior warning, and results in an increase in stopping distance. Some complaints also allege previous brake repairs prior to the failure, some referencing NHTSA Recall 20V-469. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to determine the scope and severity of the alleged problem, and to fully assess the potential safety-related consequences. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, please go to NHTSA.gov.
