My 2017 Ford Edge has a 2.0 ecoboost engine with a known defect problem. Antifreeze is leaking into the cylinder which could cause it to overheat and a potential fire. It has been checked at two separate FORD dealerships, and they both confirm the same issue. The yellow multi dash lamp has gone on and stayed on since the incident occurred. The first incident was on 4-3-2024.

The local dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced due to metal shavings being discovered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 76,061.

We have a 2017 ford edge. Ford has a recall of flexplate on June 23. I called the dealership that sold us the car. I was told not to do anything unless it acts up. At 127,000 miles, it happened. It was rattling and would die at idle speed. Ford won't cover it because car has miles over. My concern is that I called the dealership and they told us not to do anything. We would on a slanted off ramp when it happened. It would die when we put it in park so we had to shift it to neutral when sitting. Could have been very dangerous because there was a lot of cars behind us.

The engine is malfunctioning. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The engine could fail, loss of power, if while passing a vehicle on 2 lane highway a major loss of coolant, overheating due to loss of coolant. Result could be major damage to engine and or fire or both resulting in an accident. The problem has been confirmed by both a Ford dealership and an independent service center. The vehicle engine has been inspected by a Ford dealership in Jacksonville Fl. The engine warning light has come on several times since late 2022 or early 2023. This is when it 1st appeared. 2 dates are significant here: 3/28/23 an engine diagnostic completed due to engine light on, a slight mist detected into cylinder one. 2/19/24 another engine diagnostic completed at Autonation Ford in Jacksonville FL. Confirmed to me by telephone conversation that coolant is leaking into a cylinder. The remedy: a new, remanufactured or used engine has to be installed. All this information is on the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine made by Ford Motor Co. This problem has been known by Ford since maybe as early 2013, not only on this model from 2015-2018 but on the Ford Fusion 2017-2019, Ford Escape, built on or before 16 May-2019. I have a 2017 Ford Edge with a 2.0 Ecoboost motor that was recently diagnosed (by Ford) as needing a new engine due to Coolant Intrusion into cylinder #4. The car has only 57,000 miles and is said to have a known manufacturing defect that causes this. Fortunately I reported this issue to the dealer before it got too severe; however I've been told that the car can catch on fire due to overheating or stop altogether on the freeway because of this issue. From what I've also read Ford has numerous cars equipped with this engine and have thousands of complaints regarding it, though they refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. I therefore would like to report the situation to the NHTSA out of an abundance of caution for myself, family, and other motorists that could be impacted by this.

Transmission, coolant infusion to engine Emissions, long block torqu converter failed even though i had multiple appointments to have this and the other recalls done they always canceled the appointments due to lack of parts or they were backed up in the service department. I had the majority of all (the works) oil changes done at the dealership unless they were weeks out, I complained of engine running hot and knocking sounds back in 2021, needed to be jumped every few months 2022 I was always told this was normal for a edge ecoboost with the cold weather package, they did check the battery which was fine, when the engine light came on I took it right in only to be told to make a appointment, soon after I started to lose power going up sm hills, I was told I needed new tires after this oil change and I even ended up with a nail in my time from their repair shop, 3 weeks later no engine light denied my appointment, tried to show codes from local repair shop i waa told its normal make a appointment, i questioned if its safe to drive i was told yes absolutely engine light back on the next day took it back in again told to make a appointment 2.5 weeks later no engine light on but I showed them the codes I was pulling for miss firing that I pulled multiple times at different intervals when I felt something was wrong but they didn't have a appointment to check themselves i was then told my computer reader was not accepted due to inaccurate readings made yet another attempt for a appointment, the next day I get in my car and start driving and I get a warning the car was reducing power due to over heating.it took 2 different tow trucks to get it to the dealership i have been complaining about these issues for well over 2 years only to be told I don't know what I am talking about or that it was perfectly normal if its so "normal" then why do they have a customer satisfaction program 22n12 that list my car yet denied me any assistance besides paying for the recall issues

Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX]. - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed.
