Driver side rear flexible brake hose ruptured, passenger side flexible brake hose was bulging and ready to rupture. Drove vehicle approximately 2 -3 miles before brake system warning light cluster illuminated and loss of braking power occurred. Safety recall Notice 20S42/ NHTSA Recall20V-469 (May 2021) issued for front brake lines however, this appears that the rear lines should have been included as well. This vehicle has less than 84,000 miles on it.

My vehicle has a dash light warning for service that says "Limited Park Brake Function, Service Vehicle" and then applies my parking break on its own. I have at times be unable to get the parking brake to release and will have to start and stop my vehicle numerous times before it will accept me releasing the parking brake.

Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX]. - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed. Thank you, [XXX] ; Ph: [XXX] ; email: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 70 MPH and approaching an exit, the brake pedal was depressed but the brakes failed to engage. As a result, the driver crashed into a vehicle in front that was stopped at a red light. The air bag deployed. No warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. There was a six-year-old daughter occupant seated at the rear driver's at the time of the failure. Both received minor abrasions. The driver had a seat belt abrasion on her collarbone. The daughter had a seatbelt abrasion in the lower abdomen. Medical treatment was needed and both received blood tests to make sure there was no damage to the liver. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

In 2020, Ford issued a recall of 2015-2018 Ford Edges due to a FRONT brake jounce hoses that could rupture. Ford Reference recall# 20S42. Today, the REAR brake hoses ruptured, which caused a progressive brake fluid leak; which caused the brake fluid warning indicator light to illuminate. This caused a reduction in the rate of deceleration, and having to tow the vehicle to a Ford dealership for repair. Concerned that the same issue with the front hoses have now affected the REAR brake hoses.

Recall for bushings & customer satisfaction letter for broken flexplate repaired at the same time. 1 hour after recieving car, tool bar pops on dashboard. Takes back to dealersship- states they forgot to program software. 3 days later dashboard lights up parking brake malfunction service required/ service now. I never touch/use the parking brake. Nor have I had any lights/ issues with mycar before this. The parking brake was turning on and not even engaged. Takes back to dealer after not even a week later to be told this is a common issue with the car, not recalled though. The right rear brake harness needs repair. Best to replace both because it'll go out next. 3 trips to the dealer and $600 later here we are for Ford malfunctions.

Had brake calipers replaced 3 weeks ago. Picked up vehicle and brake pedal was going to the floor. Dealer said it was air in the line. Get vehicle back and 2 weeks later I am driving I apply the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and my vehicle barely stops. Almost hit the person in front of me. The warning light for Low Brake Fluid Comes on. I am told by the Dealer that the rubber brake line is leaking somewhere. Ford says that my vehicle is not a part of the recall on the Ford rubber hose issue. How is this not the same issue!

I was parked. Pressed brake to start car; brake pedal went all the way to the floor. When the car started warning message appeared that brake fluid was low. I had no prior warnings/signs of brake failure. I had no brakes whatsoever making the car undriveable. Car was taken to Firestone Complete Auto Care where it was determined a rear brake hose had prematurely ruptured, whereby leaking all brake fluid. Said brake hoses should last 20+ years. Brake hose was replaced by Firestone.

On 03/16/2018 my wife noticed her brakes were not working correctly. The brake pedal would go straight to the floor and she had trouble getting the car to stop. She called and said the warning for low brake fluid came on as well. When she arrived home I noticed the rear driver side brake line was leaking. The car had to be towed to Arrow Ford in Abilene, Texas. The dealership tried to say my wife ran something over but the location behind the rear shock does not allow any room for debris to hit the brake line. We-??ve already have had the front brake line rupture before the recall on the front brake lines. We had to pay out of our pocket without reimbursement and now we are going to pay for the rear brake line to be replaced. This is an extremely dangerous issue with ford brake lines that needs to be addressed. Luckily my wife was driving in town at slower speeds cause this could have been fatal. There has been no inspection on the component except from the dealership mechanic after the rupture. Currently my wife-??s vehicle sits at the dealership waiting for repairs.

While driving on the interstate in evening rush hour traffic, the traffic became "stop and go" traffic. I applied the brakes and to much my surprise the pedal went from firm to a bleed off condition. I was unable to pull over so I began driving the vehicle then shifting to neutral and pumping the brake in order to stop. This condition continued until my brake fluid low warning came on. I eventually made it to a Quick Trip and was able to look under the hood and the underside of the car did not see anything dripping. I purchased some brake fluid and used all of it to fill the reservoir, as it appeared that the system was dry and no more fluid was available to leak out. My daughter met me at the Quick Trip and I had her follow me another 9 miles to drop off a Foster Dog and then home. When we stopped to drop off the dog she noticed a small area at my passenger rear tire that was dripping. I inspected it and confirmed that it was brake fluid. She continued to follow me home and she noted that when I put on my brakes before pulling onto the service road that it was "raining fluid" from the passenger rear tire area. When I got it to the house I put the car up on jacks, removed the tire and found the hydraulic hose, that supplies the brake calliper, had an area that was ruptured.

On 2-17-23, the right rear brake hose ruptured. The brake pedal sunk almost to the floor and two different brake warning lights came on. The brake fluid reservoir had no visible fluid in it and I saw fluid on the right rear tire. That day I took the vehicle to a dealership in Beaverton, OR without accident or injury. In September 2020 both front flexible brake hoses were replaced due to Recall 20S42/NHTSA Recall 20V-469. If, as I suspect the rear brake hoses are made by the same manufacturer as the front hoses it seems logical that the rear hose rupture is also a factory defect that likely should be recalled. So far 3 out of 4 of the brake hoses have been replaced- the front two under NHTSA safety recall for fear of rupture and the right rear for actual dangerous rupture. I am extremely worried about the potential untimely and dangerous rupture of the left rear brake hose. On 4-26-20, I purchased a Ford PremiumCARE extended warranty that is in effect for this vehicle, but so far Ford refuses to cover the right or left rear brake hose under warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Arbitration Program for Ford over this matter (Attached).

While my wife was driving this vehicle at highway speeds she attempted to brake and realized she had little stopping ability. She managed to slowly get the vehicle to our home without having to be towed. I then inspected the vehicle and after taking off the drivers side rear wheel realized the brake line at the caliper had burst and allowed the brake fluid to drain out. Keeping in mind there was a recall on the front brake lines which we had repaired-I was hopeful FORD would also repair this brake line. After contacting the dealership was told no recall had been issued for this problem and I would have to have it repaired myself. Luckily my wife or someone else wasn-??t seriously injured throughout this incident. I have taken a picture of the brake line for review and have a copy of the repair bill and the cost of the brake line.

front driver side Brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership. a couple months later my front passenger side brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership, but this time the dealership told me my master cylinder was bad and I needed to get that fixed too. ford finally acknowledged the problem, but it took them a year to actually fix it. a year after they acknowledged the recall and actually fixed it a couple months later my rear brake hose went out. however ford dealership refused to fix the rear brake hose, the dealership said the rear brake hoses were not included in the recall (only the front brake hoses).

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and attempting to make a turn, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond and went all the way to the floorboard. The message "Brake Fluid Reservoir Low" was displayed. The contact continued driving in the straightforward lane. The contact engaged the electronic parking brake and the vehicle stopped. The contact was able to continue driving to his residence at a slow speed. The contact then noticed that there was no brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that parts for recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,534. Parts distribution disconnect.

Car's brakes went to floor when engaged. Driver pumped them several times to slow car. Engine light came on; took car to mechanic and brake repair was made, but engine light kept appearing. Then the car would not crank and was towed to the mechanic and the battery was replaced. Finally, the car's body/wheels appeared to be shaking when driving and the engine light appeared again. Car was taken to a Ford repair center where service department informed us that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leak. The car is driveable but unsafe and requires expensive engine replacement. After doing research, this appears to be a well known problem with the Ford Edge and consumers aren't receiving adequate information about the extent of the problem or safety concerns. A recall needs to be issued for this defect and Ford needs to take responsibility to fix the problem.

Bought this car used. Never received recall letter. Wife was driving car stepped on brake. Pedal went to the floor and car stopped slowly. Dealer and Ford Corp both said they would replace both front brake hoses but parts would take up to two weeks to get. They said I am not entitled to a loaner car or towing of the vehicle because the recall letter stated that the hoses could leak not that it could break. They also said that NHTSA stated in the letter that it was not unsafe to drive the car. Really, a brake issue is not unsafe. I think they are splitting hairs to avoid the costs involved.

Brake pedal went to floor, had car taken to repair shop, was explained that battery acid leaked onto metal Brake lines between master cylinder and ABS component corroding it and causing loss of brakes, this vehicle has only 24666 miles on it always garaged we are original owners, vehicle is being repaired using original Ford parts, I asked repair shop to save these damages parts and yes you are welcome to view them, my wife was able to come to a complete stop without damaging vehicle or personal injury, I wouldn-??t want anyone to get hurt if this should happen again to someone
