Brand new car. Cost a fortune. And, if I can figure out how to update this complaint, you will see that this dangerous loss of brake fluid recurred again and again and still isn't fixed.
Update from Sep 24, 2017: June 5, 2017, low brake fluid warning light comes on again. Dealership tells me brake fluid is 4 oz low. Dealership says they'll replace brake master cylinder and brake booster. But when I get their invoice (free because under warranty) it says "remove and install or replace" brake booster assembly. Also, it says "master cylinder repair" in one part of the receipt. In a more descriptive part of the receipt it says"found brake fluid from master cylinder leaking into brake booster -replaced brake master cylinder and brake booster." So I hope they replaced with new parts instead of just repairing or using rebuilt, but the receipt is a little confusing.
The car was fine for a few months after that, but the warning came on again in September.
Update from Sep 24, 2017: 9/23/2017, low brake fluid warning light comes on again. Third time the light has come on since I bought the brand new car in late December of 2016! Dealer can't schedule appt for a week, but says I should come in to get fluid topped off immediately. I do, but dealer tells me the brake fluid level is below minimum and I should leave the car with them now and not wait for my scheduled appointment because too dangerous.
After inspection, they say there's a leak where metal brake lines meet soft rubber brake lines at rear wheel, driver's side. They say they've fixed it now.
But as I drive home I notice brakes acting funny. Car stops well, brakes neither too mushy nor too hard, but after I've sat at a light for 5 seconds the brakes go mushy on me, moving downward of their own accord until they're practically on the floorboard. I report this to dealer who tells me to bring car back Monday. We'll see if they finally fix it Monday.
