My 2016 Ford Edge sport with 8745 miles on it is experiencing adaptive power steering issues. At approx. 5000 miles the warning light starting coming on and off intermittently and as of yesterday the light is now steady and the steering wheel is now not aligned with the direction the wheels are pointed while driving. This feel unsafe and I cant get Ford to look at it until Aug 23, 2017

Adapative steering fault during normal driving. Upon taking to dealer they have advised this is not safe to drive until steering wheel replaced. Wheel is on back order until 8/31/2017, this will be 7 weeks after I turened car into dealer.
Adaptive steering fault - intermittent issue that causes steering to feel very twitchy at highway speed or lethargic at slow speed. This has now happened on multiple occasions. Cel is not stored on the computer, dealer has no way of replicating the fault unless it happens at the dealer. Fault comes and goes as it pleases. Fault normally happens after car is parked and turned on and goes away at some point.
Approximately 6000 miles after purchase of the new vehicle it began to experience intermittent adaptive steering faults. I could find no pattern to the faults appearance or disappearance. The Ford dealer attempted to fix the issue 3 separate occasions during which times the vehicle was out of service for around 4 weeks. The total duration of the period between when the fault warning first appeared and the problem was ostensibly fixed is closer to 5 -6 weeks. I was forced to drive the vehicle (due to the need for personal and work related transportation) for much of that time during which period I was very concerned for my safety. The fault has not returned since the last repair attempt when the dealer replaced the steering wheel. However since the fault was intermittent I cannot be sure that the issue will resurface at a later date. When the steering fault first appeared I did some research and it appears that the problem is fairly frequent for late model Ford that have the so-called adaptive steering feature. Approx two months after purchasing the vehicle, and again approx. Six months after purchasing the vehicle, the steering wheel turned to the right approx. 15-30 degrees after vehicle start... as vehicle speed increased and decreased, the steering wheel would move right and left... during this time, the vehicle would maintain a straight track on the ground... after taking the vehicle to the dealer, it was diagnosed as wheels out of alignment... however, the steering wheel offset occurred almost immediately after the wheels were aligned for both instances... am certain that this issue is related to the adaptive steering system (2016 Ford Edge sport is the first vehicle to get this system) although I did not get an adaptive steering system fail light on the dashboard display... the steering wheel is currently turned to the right approx. 30 degrees although the vehicle continues to drive in a straight line... I'll be taking this vehicle to Ford for further investigation but, to date, they have been unable to identify the problem.
Parked car and shut down. Upon starting car and driving off, the steering wheel was cocked 45 degrees to the left. Dealership realigned but lock to lock was not the same. Dealership claimed it was steering rack but upon investigation determined adaptive steering problem. Car needed more the several full resets before it worked.
Adaptive steering fault servicing required message. Steering will is not centered when driving. Loud click noise happened upon steering. Dealer states need to see errror message but once you turn car off the error message disappears and steering wheel appears to recenter after restarting car sometimes several times.

Adaptive steering warning light appeared, get service while driving. Called my dealer and was on a road trip 700 miles from home. Went to dealer in South bend, in and was told that we needed a new steering wheel assembly but not available until July, was told car was drivable but numerous warning features that had worked previously were not working now. Need to drive home next week and have my fingers crossed.
Adaptive steering fault warning light on dash. Took to dealer and they found nothing. Told us to come back if it occurred again. Heard a couple of clicks when driving straight on the highway and the warning came on. When we turned the car off and restarted, the warning was gone.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. While starting the vehicle, the adaptive steering fault service required indicator illuminated. It was diagnosed that the steering system needed an update. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The dealer informed the contact that the steering wheel needed to be replaced, but the part was on back order. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
I bought my Edge brand new in late July of 2016 and had not experienced any problems up until March of 2017 (one month ago). When the "adaptive steering fault. Service required!" light first started coming on, it was generally just seconds after starting my car, but always while I was turning the wheel. For the next couple of weeks, it was coming on an average of 2 to 3 times per week and it would turn off within five or so minutes of my drive. My service light has come on everyday now for the past five days without even having to turn my wheel. Once my car is started - the message pops up. And rather than turning off a few minutes or miles into my drive, it remains on for the entirety of the drive. I called today in hopes of getting it serviced but unfortunately cannot be fit in for an entire week. I left a voicemail with the service manager to ensure that my car was safe to drive until then but have not yet received a call back. Fingers crossed!
I'm experiencing what many, many other Ford Super Duty truck owners have been experiencing since about 2005 commonly known as the "death wobble". at speeds above 45 miles per hour, when the truck goes across a rough (washboard) bit of road or a bridge joint, the front end sometimes shakes violently which also causes the steering wheel to shake violently until you can bring the vehicle to a stop, which is not easy. This is a very serious safety issue, which could cause loss of control resulting in injury to passengers as well as other drivers on the road. In the research I have done, it appears that Ford has done very little to correct this problem for consumers. I have mentioned the problem to the dealership where I purchased the truck new twice now and they say they cannot find anything wrong and cannot duplicate the problem in a test drive. I have only 26,000 miles on the truck and the problem seems to be getting worse. Have had it aligned twice and tires rotated regularly. No unusual wear. My wife refuses to drive the truck and I'm not too excited about it myself. Will it take injuries and deaths to force Ford into admitting there is a problem and fix it?
Started with intermittent "adaptive steering fault. Service required" warning which now is constant. I took the car to the dealer (capitol Ford in san jose ca) and they told me they had no time to look at the problem now and to make a service appointment. I called to make a service appointment on March 28 2017. The earliest they could see the car is May 8 2017. Does California have a lemon law to protect customers that buy faulty new automobiles? I can't believe I have to leave the car set for over a month to have Ford service look at the problem.
The adaptive steering warning light has came on two times in two weeks. I have less then 2500 miles on the vehicle. This came on both times as I was making a turn.
