CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Edge is starting to show a similar trend to the prior model year of the engine stalling while driving, which owners report is typically caused by low-mileage problems with the throttle body. This is typically considered a safety defect.
I had just left Publix grocery store and got on the road in rush hour traffic. I pressed the accelerator and the car stalled then white smoke started coming out and the engine started making a noise. Fortunately, I was able to pull off to a side road maybe 1/4 of a mile from the store. The oil was gone, the coolant was gone, and the check engine light never came on. Had the car towed to my regular repair shop. 2 days later, I was sent pictures of the engine block. The mechanic told me about the Ecoboost class action suit and that this was a known problem with Ford. However, no recall issued. $7000+ later and a new engine, and I was able to get back on the road. Didn’t really have a choice since I was starting a new job and needed to get my car back. My first Ford and my last! Will Ford reimburse me for any of this?
My major complaint is that there hasn't been a recall yet. We were lucky to have bought the extended warranty. Otherwise we would be screwed. It took over a month to get it back. This is the only issue we have with this Edge. We had a 2010 and I drive a 2012. Yes. My wife gets the newer vehicles. Now she got it back she's happy again. (For now)
