CarComplaints.com Notes: There was plenty of hope that Ford would fix their “door ajar†warning light issue for the 2014 model year. This widespread problem has caused the previous 3 model years to stay on top of defect trend lists.
So far, the 2014 Edge doesn't share the poor reputation of prior model years.
Transfer case failure of a 2014 Ford Edge Sport AWD at just over 132,000 miles. My wife noticed some squeaking and grinding shortly after a significant snow storm we had and the problem worsened in the days following. The noise wasn't constant and could easily be confused with either wheel bearing failure or a bad CV boot/axle. Noise was more prevalent when accelerating. Turning didn't seem to make as much of a difference. Mechanic diagnosed the issue and stated that if the vehicle were to continue to be driven they do lock up completely. $2900 all in for the replacement and labor. We bought the vehicle used around the 80K mark. Likely the last Ford I purchase outside of a full size truck.
