CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar” warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

i would come to a stop and all of a sudden i would have to press all the way down on brakes to the floor for the car to stop. I took the car and got the master cylinder replaced. 5/2/2002 and now on 6/22/2022 the brakes did not work again, so i took back to machanic, he then checked the brake pads, brake oil all was working fine. There are no codes on the dash. I am very worried if I am on the freeway this could happen and I get in a serious accident. I did call the ford dealer here in town and just to diagnose they charge $160

The break booster is failing on this vehicle. I understand that there have been similar issues with other Ford vehicles including recalls. I am wondering if recalls for this issue will be extended to this particular model?

The brake booster has failed on this model of Ford, and Ford has not acknowledged that this vin # associated with this model of Edge. There are some models of 2013 Ford Edges that they did repair under their CSP program. I feel like they need to extend their coverage across other 2013 Ford Edge vehicles, because other users are experiencing the same thing.

I heard a hissing and when I applied brakes they were spongy and went all the way to the floor. I had to pump them a lot to come to a stop. Very scary. I was told my vehicle was not included in the service bulletin. There are a lot of Ford Edge owners that have had to replace the brake booster but no reimbursement or help from Ford. They are excluding more vehicles with this problem than including. Brake boosters are not a common thing to go out unless you own a for Edge. This needs to be made a must for Ford to replace these.

We purchased a 2013 Ford Edge less than a year ago. Brakes went out. The pedal goes all the way down to floor and makes a hissing sound. I researched online and this is the case for hundreds of 2013 Ford Edge owners. Please look this up on carcomplaints.com This is a life or death safety issue. Our vehicle rolled through a stop sign because the brakes didn't stop us. I'm so worried that I can't have my children ride in this vehicle with me. There was a 13N02 for 2013 Ford Edges replacing the brake booster but not all 2013 ones. My wasn't included. There were no warning lights prior to brakes giving out and they are now so bad. They brake pedal is so low to the floor. I have an appointment on the 6th. They said that this is a known issues with Ford Edges but no recalls have been issued by Ford. Please Talk to Ford so they can issue a recall. There are hundreds of people online with this same problem. Brakes are the scariest issue to have with a car. I don't want hurt/killed.

The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The brake booster failed, just as is outlined in Ford's Customer Satisfaction Program #13N02, NHTSA #10054925. Ford claims my vehicle was built outside of the dates covered in the CSP and therefore, does not qualify for the warranty extension of the CSP. The booster failure I experienced is identical to that described in the CSP, so it seems obvious that there are more vehicles affected than Ford claims.

The afternoon of Friday, March 25, 2022 I was driving over Balcom Canyon and my brake pedal went all the way to the floor with no response! In my almost 30 years of driving I have NEVER experienced something so terrifying! I literally could've died (or caused a collision with another person, endangering everyone involved). I immediately took my car (2013 Ford Edge Limited) to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (Valencia). They tell me it's the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and will cost me $2,000 to replace! This is an OBVIOUS safety issue and a matter of life or death. Upon doing more research, I have discovered that this is an ongoing issue with Ford vehicles and I feel it is UNACCEPTABLE to allow people to be put in these types of situations KNOWING of this defect! And to not recall/repair the issue"! Shame on Ford! Something needs to be done. They are putting everyone's lives and safety at risk! I purchased my car new on Labor Day 2013 so I've had it 8.5 years BUT it only has 42,000 miles on it! And it is very well-maintained and in immaculate condition. There were no warning lights or sounds or anything. Just no brakes. On a CANYON road! I feel this is absolutely unacceptable and now I am not even comfortable driving my own car anymore! I was already a bit of an "anxious" driver but now I'm totally traumatized and feel I can't trust my own car's braking system"! Just crazy! Please do something about this NOW

Edge

The brake booster and master cylinder failed on my 2013 Ford Edge, which required extreme applications of pressure to the brake pedal to bring the car to a complete stop (the brake pedal would either sink to floor when being depressed or become extremely stiff when attempting to stop). This has been a serious safety risk, as excessive force has been required under normal circumstances to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Independent mechanics were required to replace both the brake booster and master cylinder to resolve the issues.

Traction control. Stabiltrak, and ABS system all randomly failed at 69,000 miles. They were intermittently going in and out for two days now come on every time. The car does not even have 100,000 miles. I have replaced the transmission and have countless electrical issues. The blend door actuators are all faulty. Known common issue that will cost a thousand to fix. Master brake cylinder has been replaced and still having faulty petal issues that is no longer covered. The panoramic roof does not work and it is a known issue almost every edge has. And now sever safety issues with the ABS system and traction control. There is no excuse for this poor manufacturing and no recalls to fix them. There were absolutely zero warning signs or check engine lights that came on prior to any of these systems happening. The transmission never through a code at all until after it locked up. The ABS system went out while driving down the road on a rainy day causing me to loose control and luckily I was able to get it into the ditch instead of into oncoming traffic. It put my life and my friends lives in danger. Ford should be sued for this and made to recall every single edge or other vehicle with these components. I have no fixed the issue yet because I wanted to submit this issue to the NHTSA and have it available to be inspected if they wanted. This vehicle is extremely unsafe and has had issues non stop. The transmission went out also while driving on the highway and just locked up causing me to almost get hit from the rear. And the replacement transmission is already having issues again with less than 15,000 miles on it. This

The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his daughter was at a complete stop, the brake pedal was depressed but felt spongy and failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact-??s daughter continued to depress the brake pedal until the brakes responded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the whistling sound inside the cab was caused by the vacuum booster and the master cylinder failure. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who advised that the vacuum booster would be replaced under an unknown recall; however, the master cylinder replacement would be an out-of-pocket expense. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
