The door ajar light will not go off on my 2013 Ford Edge when the door is securely shut. This causes the interior dome to remain on while driving causing a serious driving obstruction and dangerous condition. It is also draining the battery.
Drivers door latch does not lock due to a malfunction in the latch module. This occurs while in motion with the 'drivers door ajar" warning coming up on the dash.
Door ajar warning lights up, dome lights remain on and doors will not automatically lock even when door is shut. Warning does not go off so you have to drive with the dome light on for a while and when you park your car these stay on and it can drain your battery stranding you. This is an ongoing everyday problem.
My driver side door latch seems to be failing. My door ajar light comes one when the door is closed. I'm not sure if it actually is or not. It has yet to open on its on, but upon some research it appears this could happen. When the driver side door says its ajar the doors won't lock. I've had to open and close my door a dozen times just to get the interior lights to shut off. This happens on a daily basis. I've also had the good fortune of getting in the car and the door ajar light doesn't come on. Then I put the car in drive, start my way down the road only for the door ajar light to come on and the interior lights come on as well. More often than not though, the door ajar light comes on immediately. Again, I'm not sure if it's sensor, or if the door latch is malfunctioning. I'm not sure if the door is even latched when I'm driving. I've looked online and this seems to be a costly issue to repair. Ford seems to have done a recall on certain makes except the Edge.
Vehicle does not lock correctly. This occurs daily at random places while parked. Lights stay on draining the battery. Alarm goes off randomly at day or night waking me and neighbors almost every night. It is 4 am alarm went off and I just spent 30min trying to fix the door because lights are still on.
Door latch senser is malfunctioning. With it doing this the doors will not lock while operating the car. Lights stay on when not in use. And alarm will go off when ever it decides to while not in use. Due to car sensing the door is ajar. This makes the car available to be plundered by burglary. While it drains the battery. The lights will go off eventually. But driver door ( the one causing issues) will not respond keyfob. When I use set of keys number 2 ( my set) it won't respond to them till I lock car and remote start sitting inside the automobile. Every time you stop the car will sound an alarm and tell you to shift into park and close door, everytime!! even when you physically lock doors the car will unlock them. (posably so we can get car jacked) it is a design flaw. Replacing the mechanism isn't the whole answer. I have friends who have done that only to have the same issue pop up in several months. Then they are out about $600. Please deal with this it is on several mak S and models of Ford. I like the company, but am getting tired of the run around. It started in 11/01/16 to current. Sad part is it use up come and go. Not anymore.
The front, driver side door latch is dysfunctional. The sensor does not correctly read when the door is open and closed. It will not read when the door is closed, so the interior lights stay on. Plus, the door agar switch dings. It is very difficult driving during the nighttime when the interior lights will not go off because of this dysfunctional sensor. Plus, the doors will not lock because the sensor reads incorrectly. I recently attempted to lock my doors because I was at a stop-light in a rough party of town, but they would not lock because the sensor reads my driver's door as "open." I will not purchase another Ford because of this issue.
Complaint--not sure drivers door is securlely latched while driving. Driver door warning light will not go out when door is closed. Other times warning light will come on while vehicle is being driven. Another warning light saying "shift to park" comes on while door ajar light comes on. The passenger door ajar light up sometimes when the door is closed securely. This leaves me uncertain if I have a hazardous condition or not. Concerned about ignoring the safety warning light when I have a real door problem. Creates an unsafe condition that must be physically checked each occurrence.
The driver door ajar switch/alarm remains on when the drivers door is firmly closed when stationary and when in motion. This causes the dome light to remain on which makes it hard to see, dangerous, to drive at night. The doors will not lock when driving which can be unsafe. This condition is constant on any type of street or any parking situation. My Edge had around 31,000 miles when this problem started.
Drivers side "door open" dash indicator is active when the door is closed, both in park and while driving. It has occasionally come on during driving, then gone off again. Interior lights stay on when car is off, leading to a drain on the battery and I eventually had to replace the battery. The only way to occasionally make the light go off is to repeatedly open and then slam the door closed. I also feel the anti theft features and overall locking may be compromised as I hear the horn "double beep" when using the remote control key fob lock, indicating that a door is still "open".
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. When the driver side door was closed, the "door ajar" indicator illuminated and a bell-like alarm sounded on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the doors remained unlocked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door switch was stuck and that the door switch assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Driver side door ajar light will not go off even after shutting the door numerous of times. This causes the inside light to stay on draining the battery as well as the door ajar alarm to keep going off every 3 minutes.
On three separate occasions in the last three months the door ajar sensor has malfunctioned on the Ford Edge. These issues surfaced twice with the driver's door and once with the rear driver's passenger door. Despite being closed, the sensor activates to show that the door is ajar. The lights on the vehicle stay on, the alarm sounds. The repair costs for this problem are around $500 per incident. A quick search of the internet finds this to be a reoccurring problem for many Ford Edge owners but no one at Ford or the government will help address the problem. I'm writing for you to investigate this issue.
The driver door ajar light is consistently on when parked it causes the interior light to remain on and drain the battery. When driving it will constantly beeps telling to you put the vehicle in park and won't let you lock the doors. At first it was a rare occasion that the door ajar light would come on but now it's almost everytime I get in the vehicle.
