CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar†warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

From early on I noticed a burnt oil smell in the cabin when going up a steep hill and during hard acceleration, i.e., merging with traffic. I thought the car needed to be "broke in" but continued to notice it until my first oil change and mentioned it then. They stated that they couldn't replicate the problem and sent me home. It continued to happen and I brought it in for my second oil change and mentioned it was still doing the same thing at which they stated they did find a very small oil leak and that they fixed it. It is continuing to happen and currently in the shop where they state that they are unable to replicate the problem and they did not find an oil leak. I have been online since reading about other Edge owners going through the same exact thing. Ford is aware of this problem and the Edge is not the only vehicle with the problem. It is on some Explorers and the Lincoln MKZ. It is very frustrating and not fun to smell these fumes. There are times when I come in and I can smell it on my clothes and hair. It gives me headaches and makes me nauseous too. If there are many reports of this problem why is nothing being done?
