CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Door ajar sensor at 38K is failing. Lights will not go off, can not lock car once out of it and inside lights stay on. Also having problem with alarm randomly going off.
Vehicle stalling while driving and check engine light comes on, pull over turn off and restart, and the problem goes away. Just like several other complaints, appears to be the electronic throttle body. Replaced yesterday in 15 min, waiting to see if problem is resolved
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed, interior lights stay on, the door does not lock. The dome light stays on creating a safety hazard while driving at night. The false door ajar signal prevents the door from locking. This is a major safety issue. This happens both when stationary and while driving. Today November 11, 2016 is the fourth time I have taken in the car for the same issue.
I have a 2012 Ford Edge. It loss power when I drive at 20mph in the noon. The yellow wrench light was on and the car started shaking. The engine was still working at that time. I was stopped in the middle of the road to turn left. I turn off the car and restart it. It worked well. It happened twice in a week. Ford dealer auto service in santa monica wouldn't find the problem. I am still in extension warranty. Ford customer service have no solution except asking me to try other dealer auto service. I just pray for a good luck...

The panel shows driver door ajar all the time while driving the interior lights stay on after car has been locked for some time the lights go on even if the car has not been used for a while while the door ajar is on, the doors do not lock-safety issue, car in motion I tried getting the dealer I bought the car from to repair it, they stated that they could not because there was not recalls on my issues. But if I wanted it repaired it would cost me $350 to change the sensor that may be causing the problem. I believe the dealer sold me a lemon...the door ajar comes up as I close the left door as I put the car in motion;the doors do not lock while the car is in motion; interior lights is when the car is parked; the lights go on when the car is parked in the garage. The battery has died a couple of times as a result of this.
While getting in my car I realized after I shut the door at still says door ajar on dash. And now its getting worse it wont go off constantly stays on and will not allow you to lock doors.
Driver door ajar sensor malfunction. You must close door multiple times before the door ajar alarm goes off. Sometimes you can't make it go off and the dome lights stay on, alarm dings. When parking car and getting out, you can't lock doors, dome light stays on. Very frustrating. Ford dealer says this is a common issue. Car out of warranty. Very expensive to have fixed.
This has been an ongoing issue it started out every now and then. Now its constant this morning ran my battery down causing crazy things to go on with electrical. The dome light stays on so at night driving is bothersome, and the door locks will not work.
The door ajar sensor is malfunctioning. When the door is closed the sensor is on and I am unable to lock the vehicle. If I park the car the dome light will stay on and run the battery down unless I close the door multiple times over and over again.
Driver door ajar shows on dashboard intermittently. When attempting toock car, it gives a double signal as if it is not locked. Lights stay on in the car.
Drivers side door says its ajar most of the time the lights in the car stay on and the other doors wont lock while in motion. Sometime the car says to stop and put it in park and shut the door but it is shut. I have seen this plastered all over the internet as I googled what is wrong with my car. All these newer cars with such issues which could be dangerous is scary
2012 Ford Edge door latch, Ford Edge door ajar alert/notification - for the past several weeks the notification system thinks a door is ajar when in fact it is not. There are dozens of forums regarding this very same issue and that direct people file a complaint with this website; as most believe Ford should recall said vehicles to correct the manufacturing error that is so blatantly apparent. We have since bought the latch and repaired it. The part cost us $101.15. We feel like we should be reimbursed for this. I loved my vehicle but have really gotten disappointed in it and Ford as a whole.
It started in May 2015 when you close the driver door, the screen will always display "driver door ajar" and showing the car icon showing the driver door open, and all doors would not lock whether at full stop or when moving. The dashboard screen will display also "shift to park" interchangeably with "driver door ajar" when the vehicle is running. The interior lights will keep on for about 30 mins when in motion and when the car engine is already off.
The driver door ajar sensor light is faulty. The sensor light will not go off and therefor the doors do not lock and the dome light does not go off. Took my car to the dealership and as soon as I told him the problem he told me what kind of car I was driving. This tells me that I'm not the only one with this problem. I feel as though there should be a recall as there is some danger that the doors do not lock.
As is common with the Ford Edge, the door ajar issue appeared on my car about a month ago. The dashboard indicates the driver door is open even when closed. This is a big headache as the alarm goes off every time your foot comes off the break after a stop. The keyless door locks also do not function with an "open" door. Beyond the headache, you have the safety issues. If the car thinks the door is open, the automatic door locks will not engage. Additionally, in the evenings the dome light will remain on because it thinks you are in the car with the door open. This could easily leave you stranded with a dead battery. I ended up taking it into a Ford dealership and was charged $560 to replace the latch.
