CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Door latch won't close. Shows that door is ajar and the lights on inside won't go off because the door looks as if it's open. It happens each time the drivers side door is opened. This has been happening for a few years. In 2014, I thought Ford had fixed the issue and I found out today that they only cleaned it. Having to pay $588 for a new door latch isn't good especially when there was a recall for several Ford vehicles regarding this issue.
The driver side door ajar switch is not working which causes the interior lights to remain on while driving or leave lights on to drain the battery when parked.
Rear driver side door ajar light will not turn off, have drained 2 car batteries, the alarm goes off at random and the interior dome light stays on. Had to pull cabin lighting fuse to stop battery from draining. The indication is constantly on there is no way to tell in door is actually ajar or not.
The "door ajar" light will not shut off even when the door is closed and this leaves the interior lights on which is a nighttime driving hazard. The dealer says the latch is defective and Ford will not assist in the repair. This happens when the car is moving and stationary. Due to the high cost (over $550) people are going to ignore the repair and then drive impaired. So how many accidents are required before Ford is forced to deal with this issue?
Door ajar sensor...this is causing my dome lights to just come on going down the road and tank goodness when this happened there wasn't another car near me because I would have crashed into them because it blinded me. Also my doors want lock when this sensor is messing up. I have already had one replaced and now another one I think this is a major problem and Ford will not recognize it.

Door ajar sensors/light doesn't indicate when doors are closed, and will come on for no reason when vehicle is driving. This causes the interior lights to illuminate and doors unlock/unable to lock. Very dangerous at night or when I drive with children in the car.
The warning light that the driver door is ajar is constantly on, even though the door is shut. This prevents the doors from locking when the car is on, and when driving. It also keeps the interior and perimeter lights on, until they 'time out, ' wearing down the battery.
The "door ajar" light located on the instrument cluster stays on all of the time even when all doors are closed and fully latched. When the light is illuminated continuously, the vehicle doors will not lock which is a serious safety issue. When the vehicle is on and the door lock button is pressed, the doors lock and then unlock within a second apart. Once the vehicle is exited and locked with the remote, the interior and exterior lights remain illuminated.
Safety issue regarding door latch and door ajar sensor. Sensor has failed and continues to think the door is ajar which causes the doors not able to lock, and the interior light stays on and causes windshield glare when driving at night. This is a safety hazard as you cannot lock the doors for protection and you can't see properly to drive at night.
Driver door ajar light remains on at all times, not sure if door is closed all of the way or not, dome lights remain on as well. This happens while parked whether keys are in the ignition or not and also while driving.
Door ajar switch does not operate correctly. When door is close, it says its open and all interior light remain on. Difficult to see at night and battery will run dowm
My Ford Edge,2012, had a "door ajar" warning and it required slamming the door very hard to get the warning removed. My lights would stay on after I parked and again require slamming the door multiple times. My back up camera will work and then not work making that safety feature unreliable! I had the door latch replaced at a cost of 325 dollars. Other Ford products have also experienced these problems and are under a recall. I believe this issue is not the result of careless treatment by my wife or me. We are both over 70 years old.
The "door ajar" warning light will not turn off when the driver and rear left passenger doors are closed. The doors are closed firmly, but the warning light still shows the doors to be open. The doors are closed and locked, but the car registers them as open, and thus keeps the interior dome light on along with the exterior lights of the car. Without no way to turn off the lights they end up draining the battery.
Vehicle says that the drivers side door is ajar but the door is closed and latched. Causing the vehicle not to lock and the interior lights to stay on.
Both the drivers side rear passenger door and the front passenger door closed sensors stopped working. The door ajar sensor is always on which causes the interior lights to stay on and the door locks to unlock while at highway speeds. This happens 100% of the time. The interior lights do go out once I reach 10 mph but there is no visibility when backing up at night making it dangerous for me and anyone that might be behind me.
Light comes on saying driver door is open, come to a stop starts dinging shift to park. Car cant be locked at times, and will not lock while driving. Ligts will stay on running down the battery if you dont turn them off inside the vehicle. This will be the second time taking to dealership, Ford customer care has been involved in both instances, cost to repair is over $600.
The "door ajar" light continues to activate eventhough my door is clearly closed. The passenger side was previously serviced and now the driver "door ajar" is activated. The problem is the doors will not lock when "door ajar" is activated and I have very small children. Very dangerous! I have recently discovered this is a problem with this model by Ford.
Driver side door ajar lite remains on even if door closed securely. Door ajar light and signal remains O when car moving or stationary. In some cases when door ajar signal on the interior light remain on and do not go out in 1 minute as normal.
Driver door is shut, but door ajar indicator inside vehicle stays on along with dome light and doors won't auto lock anymore. Continuously opening and closing won't turn off door ajar indicator.
