CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

After entering my vehicle and the door will be completely closed the door ajar sensor will come on and interior lights. Also, as I was riding down the road, out of no where the door ajar sensor comes on and interior lights come on and all the doors unlocked by themselves...soon as I locked them back, they unclocked again on their own.
Door showing ajar intermittently. Dome lights comes on at random with door ajar light making it difficult to see at night. Can not lock doors while ajar light is on creating a security risk. Unable to secure valuables inside as a result. Also causes dead battery resulting in stranded motorist. Cost of repair is over $400 through dealer
The driver side door sensor does not register the door as closed when it is. The dash warning light comes on and stays on and the interior lights do not shut off. The driver side door has to be closed up to 30 times before the sensor registers the door as closed. The dash warning remains lit and "shift to park" comes on when coming to a stop at a light.
Driver-side door ajar switch failure leaves doors unlocked during travel. With the drivers side door-ajar sensor in a failed state, the vehicle's programming is automatically unlocking all doors causing a passenger safety risk. Locking via interior button is overridden and the doors remain unlocked while the vehicle is in motion.
Drive door sensor is malfunctioned. Will say "driver door ajar" even when shut. This can happen when I get in my car at the end of the day to drive home, in the morning on the way to work, or even while I'm driving! then it will constantly beep and say "shift to park" if I'm coming to a stop. The door is clearly shut, and no matter how many times I open and re-shut the door the sensor will not recognize it. Because of this, I am not able to lock my car, or the alarm will go off at some point because it thinks the door is opening. Sometimes I'm not even able to lock to doors even if I wanted to, which is not at all safe!

Door ajar indicator stays on when door is fully closed keeping interior lights on when driving causing vision problems at night. Also will not allow doors to be locked when car is in motion.car has only 12000 miles and is in like new condition and has not been exposed to harsh weather conditions.does not occur every time but is becoming frequent.
The driver side door ajar switch is not working which causes the interior lights to remain on while driving or leave lights on to drain the battery when parked.
Door ajar sensor failure: 2012 Ford Edge left rear passenger "door ajar" sensor fails to indicate when door is shut/locked indicating it may still be open/unlocked. The sensor failure affects the following: - alarm/intrusion detection: Security system does not set properly and will activate randomly if set. Attempting to set alarm results in three abnormal horn blasts indicating a door is ajar. In this state, alarm will sound randomly which is highly disruptive to neighbors. It is unsure whether this model can lock without security system enabled, forcing the vehicle to be left unlocked. - electric / battery: Dome lights, and other dash indicators do not secure manually and cause severe battery drainage. Expensive battery replacements. - safety: Small children in car seats, unsure if doors are properly secured, doubt and peace of mind in Ford. The issue was discovered approximately August 2016. Vehicle was parked. At first the door could be opened and re-shut with force and sensor would self correct, but ultimately it would fail altogether. This is a known issue. Ford, where is the recall!?
Rear driver side door ajar light will not turn off, have drained 2 car batteries, the alarm goes off at random and the interior dome light stays on. Had to pull cabin lighting fuse to stop battery from draining. The indication is constantly on there is no way to tell in door is actually ajar or not.
The door ajar is on permanently when the door isn't ajar. Lights on and off at random times. Seems to be a common problem via other people with this model
For the 2nd time in 2 years my door ajar light comes on when the car is started and in motion which leaves the overhead lights on and the doors unlocked while driving. The overhead light on at night and the doors unlocked while driving is dangerous and I should not have to pay for an issue that is safety related for a second time in 2 years.
The "door ajar" light will not shut off even when the door is closed and this leaves the interior lights on which is a nighttime driving hazard. The dealer says the latch is defective and Ford will not assist in the repair. This happens when the car is moving and stationary. Due to the high cost (over $550) people are going to ignore the repair and then drive impaired. So how many accidents are required before Ford is forced to deal with this issue?
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal numerous times, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact coasted into a parking lot, waited for a while, and resumed driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,894.
While driving the car shuts off and a wrench pops up on the dash. Lat time it happen my wife was driving in an intersection. Than 2 more times in a 4 mile drive. We had this issue before and had the throttle body replaced about 8 months ago and that worked till now. My wife is to scared to drive the vehicle and I cant say I blame her.
A warning light is displayed stating the passenger door is ajar when it is not. The door can be repeatedly opened and closed attempting to make the warning light go off, it does not work the majority of the time. The interior lights will not go off, which makes driving a hazard. Also, the door will not look when the warning light is on. Another safety concern.
About a year ago, the driver door ajar light came on and will not go out. This has caused the battery to drain multiple times due to interior lights staying on all the time. Every time the vehicle comes to a stop, the "shift to park" warning comes on along with the door chime. Ford claims it was not under warranty and quoted ~$400 to replace (~$250 if it could be "repaired"). a few weeks ago, the rear passenger side ajar light came on and will not go out. Due to this, we can no longer lock the rear door while driving. This is the location of our child's seat! also, we no longer can tell if the doors are properly closed or not.
Driver side door ajar light comes on. Can be driving down the road and interior light come on due to door ajar issue. Door will not lock while car is moving due to issue making this a safety issue.
