Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. Additionally, the contact engaged the electronic parking brake, but the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he pumped the brake pedal until the vehicle responded. The contact drove to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS hydraulic control unit had failed. The dealer determined that the brake booster, the brake master cylinder, and the ABS hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 229,000.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to Joe Myers Ford dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the hydraulic ABS module unit to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The sound would last anywhere from 10-30 minutes, the radio would not turn off and the remote start would only work in the afternoon. Also, the low tire pressure light illuminated.

Also, the brakes did not engage, which resulted in an accident. The problem was determined to be the brake booster. The vehicle showed a front collision system fault, the navigation was stuck. Also, when the consumer shut the vehicle off, a shift to park signal illuminated on the dashboard display, and she was unable to turn off the light in the vehicle. Updated 03/27/14
