The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the headlights were very dim. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 120,107.

The driver's door light ajar sensor stays on even after the door is shut and keeps the interior dome light on. This has been happening on and on again off again basis for years. Recently it is happening all the time. When we get in and start the car no matter how many times the door is opened and shut the notice stays on. This will then continue as long as the car is in reverse and makes backing up at night very hard as you can't see with the interior lights on. When backing from the driveway into the street you cannot see if there is traffic. When the car is put in drive the dome light will finally go out after a short period of time. If we park the car and lock it the dome light will stay on for 5 or more minutes as it registers as the front door being ajar. Neighbors have stopped at our home to tell us we left our interior lights on.

Also I can not lock my doors when I am inside the vehicle when the engine is on which is unsafe in my opinion. I have seen that many people have stated this has happened to their Ford as well, but a recall has not been issued.

I first noticed this problem when I turned on the vehicle in my garage and the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all of the interior lights. Even thought the door looked to be securely closed, I opened and closed the door again to be sure. The passenger door ajar indicator and all the interior lights stayed on, which made seeing at night while driving very difficult and dangerous. Additionally, I was unable to lock the doors of the car because of this problem. The technician at the shop said it was a faulty actuator and that many Ford Edge's have had this problem.

Soon after starting my car and putting it in reverse, the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all the interior lights. The passenger door looked securely closed, but I tried closing it again to be sure. Additionally, I am not able to lock the car doors when it is in motion because of this problem. I took it to the shop and they said the actuator was faulty. Apparently this is a wide-spread problem with the Ford Edge.

The headlights have no horizontal, only vertical adjustment allowed and can not be adjusted so as to light the road full width which, causes parked cars and such to be overlooked and possibly struck. I have had several close calls because of this problem when driving after dark. This is a major safety risk and should not be ignored. Ford Motor Co. Must be made to correct this problem.

Driver door ajar, passenger door ajar. These alerts come up when my doors are closed. The interior light stays on for ever and I cannot lock my doors! this is not acceptable. I have read hundreds and hundreds of complaints about this exact problem. Also, the interior lights just come on randomly when car is parked with no key in ignition. And, the backup camera, when it works, is upside down!! these problems should be recalled, as I see so many others complaining about the exact same issues.

The door ajar light stays on despite all doors being closed. This in turn prohibits the doors to lock on the vehicle (while driving and parked).the dome light will turn on intermittently, this includes during night time driving and when parked - both creating major safety issues. Battery drainage - being left with an inoperable vehicle. Visibility - severe glare and limited visibility while driving in darkness. Personal safety - doors not looking creates a threat to personal safety (there is a reason car doors lock automatically within a few minutes of takeoff - personal safety). In addition to this, the backup camera went out at 50000miles. So disappointed!

Battery car had to be replaced because interior lights would remain on all night. Opening and re-shutting door is inconsistent fix. Wd-40 not effective. Not using passenger door once warning light turns off is the only sure way to keep door closed. Passenger door ajar warning light remains on when car is in motion or stopped whenever key is in ignition. When car is off and key is out, interior lights remain on indefinitely, car is only able to be locked when car is off and key is out of ignition.

Was told by dealer Ford is notorious for the Ford 2011 Edge 3.5L V6 electrical-switch & relay door open warning relay was major problem with this vehicle. And it will keep the computer open and will drain the battery quickly causing the vehicle to die on the roadside after over 1500 complaint to Ford company they stated not enough complaint.....this is a safety issue if you have children they can open a unlocked door what more proof do you need Ford not to recall this issue and fix it !!
