As with most other Ford Edge owners, I also have had to replace a faulty brake booster. SHAME ON YOU FORD for not owning up to this problem and issuing a recall. I am out $687 to fix this piece of crap car again!
With so may complaints on this same brake booster issue why hasn't there been a RECALL on this problem which could lead to serious injuries or even death. Please if you own a FORD EDGE pay close attention to a hissing noise while pushing in on the brakes and troubles pushing down on the brakes to get the vehicle to stop. A new Brake Booster alone will cost you $450.00 with another $400 in labor to repair the damn thing, I LOVE my Ford Edge, but this issue really needs to be looked at by Ford Motor Company as a RECALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Auto Nation of Union City GA where I purchased my 2010 Ford Edge less than a year ago would not take responsibility and fix my faulty booster, because the car is not 10 yrs old and it has over 150,000 miles. They wanted $900 to fix it and they know these vehicles should not even be on the road. The Ford Edges have a lot of problems and Ford knows it. It is strange how the parts break and it is always the part that is not covered by the warranty.
I have a 2010 Ford Edge that within the last week, I noticed that my brakes started to go from hard to soft..thinking that my brake fluid was low I added a little more until it went to the specified level. It got somewhat better for about a day and the problem continued. Called my mechanic and was told that my brake booster was going bad.
Contacted Ford to see if there was a recall on that specific part and was told that there are no brake recalls on my model. I'm beyond aggravated that certain "models" are recalled but when push comes to shove, most of the parts used are the same ones used on an earlier or later year model.

Brake booster hisses when applying brakes. If you're on the freeway the brakes go to the floor and fail. I almost hit another car, had to let off the pad and hit it again and swerve into the other lane to keep from hitting another car. There needs to be a recall before someone gets killed was planning a trip but not going to take this car it is far to dangerous.
My Ford Edge Brake Booster failed. I had purchased an extended warranty, but it ended at 75000 miles and the car had 75700 on it when the booster failed. Additionally the date included in the Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 begins at May 3, 2010 but my Edge was built on April 21, 2010. This is frustrating to say the least and will cast in the neighborhood of $600. Ford should include all Brake Booster failures in a Safety Alert. Had my wife taken her trip to the mountains when this happened I fear a terrible accident could have occurred.
Brake pedal hisses when pressed and in order to stop the vehicle you must stomp on the brake. After almost sliding out into busy traffic because I couldn't get the vehicle stopped at an intersection, a certified Ford technician at the dealership diagnosed the problem as a "faulty brake booster." Apparently, this is something that has been an issue on many Ford Edge models including my 2010.
THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!! I am shocked that Ford hasn't issued a recall due to this known problem.

Brake booster started leaking, causing the pedal to go to the floor slowly. I replaced it myself. That was a pain but doable.
