I drive the ford edge SE. Ever since the day I bought it I have had a difficult time because the visability with the side mirrors actually blocking pedestrians, motorcycles. I am 5'2 and not matter how high I put the seat I can not see above these mirrors. The windshield area of the mirrors is giving me about an 18" blind spot. I have ran over curving in the entrance of subdivisions as the curbing is blocked and I have hit a guy on a bicycle. It is not just the fords as I keep trying to find a car where there is better visability. The new vehicles are all leaning toward these huge mirrors.
Makes me wonder how tall is the test drivers on these cars. The problem is major and other than that I love my edge. We live in Idaho and have driven this for almost 100,000 miles now.
I am a realtor so most of my driving is in subdivisions where families live and downtown in busy traffic, believe me it is scary.
Any suggestion, is there any mirror replacements that may correct this problem that won't leave holes in the car.
This is terribly dangerous. I just know I am not going to grow taller any ti e soon. Now my 5'11 husband has no problems. Also the dash glare is terrible so we but a dark green blanket throw on the dash. Looks pretty tacky. I bought a dash cover and it was dark color but had dentations in the carpeting which still reflected.
What this boils down to is agreat car, only thing done to this car is oil changes and tires but the visability sucks and is dangerous. Someplace I read there are more injuries to pedestrians than actual auto accidents, no brainer.
