CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

My complaint is not due to a specific incident but that this recall is not being answered to in a timely manner. The Ford Motor Company has now had 5 months to come up with a solution for this recall why tens of thousands of drivers are being put at risk because of their complacency. Additionally, this vehicle provides income for my family as up to the point of the recall, we're using it through the rental service "Turo" which has now restricted our vehicle and will not allow it to be rented. This has caused additional undue financial hardship on our family as we had a projected income for the summer that was ruined due to Ford's lack of care for producing a repair for this recall in a timely manner.
I have received many notices to schedule a recall for the air bags, have talked to one person 5 months ago and tried calling the number but no answer. The problem is we have no Ford dealership in ketchikan Alaska and no ferry service at the moment. There is no way I can get my vehicle anywhere but need this taken care of, si please respond with some suggestions.
I have been trying to get my airbag recall taken care of on my Ford Edge for over a year now, possibly two. I do not understand why Ford has only identified one dealership in northern Nevada as authorized to do this work. It has created very long wait times and in the meantime, the safety of my family is at risk. Ford should be held liable for all personal injuries until the issue is fixed, especially in situations when recall work is being hindered by Ford's business practices. I continue to get letters from Ford telling me that they are concerned about my safety and that I need to get my airbag serviced, however, I am not able to do so because of the unacceptable backlog due to the limited number of Ford dealerships that are authorized to do this work in our region. I believe the takata airbag recall started around 2015 and here we are 5 years later still struggling to get airbags replaced. I am never going to buy another Ford again! other manufacturers seem to be able to help their customers in a much more expedient mannor.
Notified of airbag safety recall NHTSA 19V-001, safety recall notice 19S01 yet, I have attempted many times to make an appointment with planet Lincoln/planet Ford in humble and woodlands, tx. When they discover I need a loaner no appointment is ever made. They promise to call back when a loaner is available and never do. Ford and Lincoln send me notification regularly that this needs to me taken care of. I have related the same to them. I suppose they think they won't be held responsible if something happens to my airbags, but they will. I have names, dates, and conversations documented.
I was driving to my mothers house on 11/10/19. Whole is was driving on route 1A my air bag exploded and it caused me to crash and it totaled my car. The news reporters came to the seen it aired for 2 days on channel 5 news. There has been a recall on my air bags since 2017 and Ford didn't have the parts to my car to fix the issue they also didn't have the parts in 2018 as well and Ford just place another recall on my vechile as well in February 2019 for the air bags again. This issue almost cost me my life. The town the accident took place was in walpole, MA on main street.
Airbags did not deploy and police and emt's said they should have gone of. The vehicle at faults airbags went off. This 2008 Ford Edge has faulty airbags! this vehicle was on a state road and had the right of way. Accident report is still being worked on at meredith police department, nh.

Additionally, the driver's side seat belt failed to retract. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to performance Ford Lincoln bountiful (1800 S main St, bountiful, ut 84010, (888) 476-8961), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 167,000.
I've reached out to my Ford dealers for over a year in regards to the notices I've recieved in the the mail. I keep getting the run around that don't have the the parts in stock. I called last week they said parts would be in this week. Called again & was hung up on. I am beyond frustrated with this matter in regards to my safety as well as my passengers!
I have received the recall notice of the airbags, the closest dealer according to the internet is bellingham Washington. I live in ketchikan Alaska and we have no Ford dealership on this island, so would like to know how to get this repaired closer to where we live.
