CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.
HEATER DOES NOT WORK. FORD SERVICE HAD VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS BACK IN 2014 REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. NOT VERY WELL. OFF WARRANTY AND ALL THEY WOULD DO IS TO FLUSH IT OUT 3 OR 4 TIMES. WHICH STILL DOES NOT MAKE IT WORK. HOWEVER THEY SEEM TO TALK LIKE IT IS OUR FAULT. CAN'T GET THEM TO FIX IT RIGHT UNLESS I PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS FAULTY FROM THE FACTORY AND INSTALLED BY PEOPLE THAT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. YES, THOSE ARE THE WORDS OF THE SERVICE MANAGER. I HAVE PURCHASED 4 NEW FORDS, 3 FROM THIS DEALERSHIP, WELL I PREDICT THAT THERE WILL BE ZERO FORDS PURCHASED IN THE FUTURE BASED ON THEIR QUALITY SERVICE AND FAULTY PRODUCTS.
So here Iam again with the same problem with my 08 Ford Edge. No Heat!!! This is year 4 with the same problem. Once again its the middle of winter and I have no heat in my car!! The first 3 times that I took my car in for the heater not working it was under warranty. Now the warranty has expired ford said because of the year of my car and the mileage, this is why I'm having this problem. REALLY well what about the last 3 years? For the last 3 years Ford has fixed this problem in the middle of winter and the heat would work for a couple of months then nothing again. So in my opinion the problem can't be fixed and I need advise on what to do. I've looked on the internet and have seen that this is a big problem with the Ford 08 Edge. Hoping someone can help. This will be the last Ford I ever purchase and will put this information all over social media.
Bought my 08 Ford Edge used at Dealership in Baltimore. This will be the 4th time that I've brought my car back to the dealership because of the heat not working but this site says to put the information in as many times as i've had the same problems so this will be continued 3 more times. Every time I take it back and its now been 4 years in a row it been under warranty. This year its not so Ford want 1,500 to fix the heat. Well its been the same problem everytime its not like this is something different that is wrong with the car. Its the middle of winter 4 years in a row and no heat again!!!
Once again dead of winter and no heat in the 08 ford edge. Everytime I take it back to the dealership they fix it and it works for about 2 or 3 months just long enough for spring and summer to arrive so I don't need the heater. Look for another complaint to follow. This has happened 4 years in a row now
