CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

I have alread griped twice about the A/C. I live in Texas so having an A/C is a must!! As always, the blower was not blowing very good. I took the cabin screen out and cleaned it (as instructed by Ford) and it did not help. I now had a new problem, cold water would drip on my foot when I ran the A/C and everytime I turned left the A/C would make an awful racket. I was about to take it in and the blower complete stopped working. If I had the air on you could feel a little cold coming out of the vents but nothing was blowing. I was told by a friend that the blower had been drying the condensation but with the blower not working the condensation was dripping in the floor board. Anyway, I have yet to take it in to get fixed. I went to Walmart and bought fans that plug into the adapters to help keep cool. The blower has to be replaced!! I do not enjoy my Ford!!!

I have always been a Chevy Girl. I was ready to buy a new car and the Chevy house was giving me the run around so I decided to call one of my friends that works at a Ford House. I test drove the Edge and loved it so of course I purchased it.

The first summer wasn't bad considering how hot it gets here in Texas. In the Spring of 2009 I had a little girl. I would run the A/C full blast and I was always sweating and so was my little girl. I took it to the Ford house where I bought it and they told me nothing was wrong even though I could blow harder than what was coming out of the vents. The mechanic told me not to run it on high and it would produce more cold air. Ha, I continued to protest and told them to bring a brand new Edge over and run the A/C to compare it to mine. Once they did that they finally decided there was a problem. They couldn't figure it out so they called in a Ford Expert Mechanic. They pulled the cabin screen, cleaned it and sent me on my way. The air blew a little better but not much. I ended up going to Walmart and bought a battery operated fan to blow on my little girl to keep her cool.

I will NEVER, NEVER own another Ford even if they gave it to me!

I complained earlier about the A/C blower that I had an issue with Summer of 2009. In the Winter the heater was barely blowing any heat out of the vents and I was about to freeze to death. I was planning on taking it in to the Ford House when I received a letter from Ford stating there is a problem with the heater and if I was experiencing any issues to take it in. I scheduled an appt and took the letter with me. The dealership did not know that Ford had sent out a letter and didn't have a clue how to fix the problem. They said they would check it out and I should get my car back with in a week. So a week passes and I hadn't heard from them so I called. They said there was a problem but did not know where the problem was. Once again they called in a Ford Expert Mechanic. Long story short; they did not clean out the hose for the heater at the factory which was clogging everything up. They replaced all the hoses and the radiator. They had my car for over a month. Not only that before they replaced the radiator they ran the engine hot!!! I HATE FORDS!!!

I took my 2008 Edge to the ford dealer , Cella Ford in New Bern N.C., were I purchased the car. I was having problems with low air volume coming form the A/C vents. The dealer informed me that the problem was a clogged cabin filter screen and that they wanted to replace it with a cabin air filter. This was not covered under the warranty and cost me $110 to install the filter and clean the debris in the vent system. I contacted ford about any recalls or service bulletins on this issue but they said there were not any.

This stinks, I had a Toyota 4-Runner for 7 years - Toyota AC will freeze you out of the car. Since I live in Georgia the weather is VERY hot and HUMID. As far as the power of the air blowing out of this Ford I am not satisfied at all. I was glad I did not buy another Toyota but I do miss the excellent AC. If you live in a hot humid climate I do NOT recommend.
