CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

I purchased this 2007 EDGE in October of 2011. Since that time I have had more problems than I can shake a stick at! It has been in the shop more than it has been out of the shop! For starters: when I first test drove it I did notice that the brakes and tires were not smooth when riding or braking. This was just the beginning of my problems! The car lot where I purchased this "lemon" in my eyes, said they replaced the brakes and rotors but shortly after the purchase the problem returned. I took it back to them numerous times as well as a Ford dealership and Ford service department put my vehicle on an alignment rack and discovered that it had a broken inner tie rod on the front passenger side. I took it back to the car lot of purchase and they supposedly "fixed" this problem; however, only 2 months later I now have a noticeable rhythmatic noise when brakes are applied after they are warmed up. Not sure if this an axel related issue or not, I will have it looked at soon.
Other problems that I have had with this car since October 2011 have been: AC adapters quit working, Fuse box that supplies the AC adapters had to be replaced, Noticable RUST on the body and in weld seams that Ford and the car lot where purchased refused to correct, Speed sensor in the transmission recently went out while driving home from 90 miles away on the interstate with no warning and completely shut the car down causing it to act as if the transmission had gone out, fuel injector had to be replaced, and I am sure that I am missing something here!
I am looking to trade out of this vehicle as soon as humanly possible! This car has been my worst nightmare and I will never again own a FORD! They do not stand behind their products! I have made several complaints to them and all I got was "we're sorry that you are having this problem and are dissatisfied with your car."
