After a short uneventful drive, I opened the driver side door in a normal fashion. The door completely fell apart in one loud bang. After further observation, it was obvious that the pressed seam between the inner and outer pieces of sheet metal that make up the door had failed. Now the outer panel binds into the front quarter panel. That was the bang I heard when I opened the door; destroying the door and the quarter panel in the process. There are no welds there to prevent the two halves of the door from separating. I've never seen or heard of anything like this before. After several futile attempts to bang it back together, I gave up and bent the door and the quarter panel in a manner in which I can open and close the door. I have to slam the door really hard to close it, as it is hanging a little low. Without the integral strength of the two pieces of steel working together the door sags apart. I don't know how long it will last in this state. I still can't believe how flimsy this vehicle is. The door and the quarter panel can be bent with your bare hands quite easily! I bought this van brand new and it's just passed warranty. Now it looks like it was in a collision!
