5-2-06. 2004 econoline rear seat belts and seat belt extenders are poorly designed. The receiving end of the seat belts are attached to the end of the strap, the other end is bolted to the floor. With use the receiving end tends to fall back through the hole and has to be reinserted often. The manufacturer provided seat belt extenders for the front two buckets seat, but not for the rear seats.
This unit is a small motorhome with six seat belts besides the Pilot/copilot seats. The curb side belts are ok as they are sixteen inches longer than the street side. The street side are so short that a small child could hardly use them. The seat belts are used in conjunction with two couches in the living area. This was brought to the attention of the manufacturer but was just shrugged off as inconsequential. It is a safety issue and the manufacturer should be made to rectify it. There are numerous units beside the one I have and I suspect they are all similar where two couches are in the living area.
