Blown spark plugs are a common occurrence with this engine, due to the "barely sufficient" number of threads holding them in to the soft aluminum head. So common in fact, that the repair costs are fairly reasonable because most shops have the thread-insert fix down to a science. Still, these 90's Ford Modular engines are riddled with design flaws and I would never purchase another vehicle with one.
