The "Performance White" that ford sprayed onto these cars has problems with delaminating from the primer and falling off of the car very early in the car's life. Some say that brand new crown vics sitting in lots at the factory, fresh off of the assembly line, will already have small chips in the paint. It starts small, smaller than the nail on your pinkie toe. If left to its own devices, though, it will continue chipping and grow into a pizza-sized area of missing paint. The only real solution to this is to repaint the affected panel.
