The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 08V051000 (vehicle speed control). The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 215,000.
Contact states on 7-26-05 1995 Crown Victoria caught on fire. Smoke and fire came from the hazard switch and the directional signal switches. On 1-16-04 signals would not work so she had a multi-functional switch put on. The covering on the steering column were destroyed and all of the wiring inside had to be replaced. The fire department. Was not called.
