Light came on that said "Safely pull to the side of the road" I did. Then the starting battery was dead. It had been replaced 2 years ago. Bought a new battery and installed it. Lights come on but now when you turn the key it makes a grinding noise. (sounds like a starter motor with a bad Bendix clutch) The light says "ready to drive" but when you put it in gear and step on the gas, nothing happens. Tried jumper cables, no improvement.

Had it towed to the Ford dealer, they say it needs a new transmission for $7,000. Never had any indication that the transmission was slipping or not shifting properly. I am worried that these hybrids are too new for anyone to have enough experience to know what is really wrong. Has anyone had any similar experience? Any advice on what I should do. I am thinking about towing it to another dealer for another opinion. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
