Bought the vehicle yesterday (10/17/2012), SEL model, financed big bucks, and this morning (10/18/2012) on my way to downtown, a message pop up on the dashboard saying "engine temp coolant overheat". Never thought naything about it as the freaking car is new and I was thinking that I may have just overlooked a set-up on the screen or something and kept re-setting the message. On my way back home, the message became more permanent. When I parked the car, I looked underneath the hood and right in front of my face and staring at it is the coolant recovery tank EMPTY!!! I was so surprised that this thing will be empty especially the damn thing is brand new. One would think that the dealership prepped and checked the car over before giving it to the customer. Another thing is that this car already had a little over a hundred miles, so again one will assume that everything is cosher specially this is their top SEL model. Now I am stuck here in the stupid dealership waiting on what their excuse would be and wondering what the outcome of driving a vehicle with possibly no coolant!! I am beyond pissed off now as worst come to worst they will give me an excuse that everything will be ok - NO IT'S NOT GOING TO BE OK BECAUSE I KNOW THAT MUCH THAT DRIVING A VEHICLE EVEN FOR A FEW MILES WITHOUT A COOLANT IS A RECIPE FOR BLOWN HEAD GASKET!!!
Btw, I just spoke with the service advisor and like what my gut feeling says he just told me that everything is cosher with the engine and that the brand new radiator has a cracked and came that way from the factory. And I was told that they're going to replace the radiator with another one from another c-max which will take 4hrs.
WARNING: Thoroughly check the car when buying it, from functionality to opening the hood and checking fluids, etc. Also, this one that I have has another warning light saying that there's something wrong with the tranny!!! F......k I should have went PRIUS.........
