My wife and I bought a brand-new 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks edition in Jully of 2023. After about a month of ownership and less than 1000 miles, we noticed when we would press the accelerator, the vehicle would take 5-6 seconds to react to the accelerator. When it finally did, the car would rev up to about 6000rpm and lurch forward. We took it to the dealer and they assured us there was nothing wrong and just reset the car's computer. A month or so later we noticed the same issue with acceleration, but this time the car also completely stalled. This happened to my wife multiple times in the middle of a busy intersection. We brought the car back to the dealership and they stated the engine was misfiring and replaced a sparkplug. They returned the vehicle again to us with their assurances we wouldn't have any more problems. We drove it for about 30 minutes before the vehicle stalled again in the middle of a busy intersection. At this point we had the dealership come and tow away the vehicle. After some time, they finally told us the entire engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle we were constantly assured was alright had an engine failure at less than 3000 miles and put my wife and I in potential dangerous situations multiple times.

Our brand new 2023 Ford Bronco Sport was destroyed by a spontaneous under-the-hood fire that occurred within thirty days of delivery and with less than 50 miles on the odometer. An independent examination found this consistent with a fuel injector fire. Ford Motor Company has publicly acknowledged similar problems with the Bronco Sport models and purportedly has recalled and "fixed" all effected vehicles. We notified Ford of this incident, that the production and delivery dates of our Bronco Sport were well AFTER these recalls had been completed, and that the VIN of our Bronco Sport does NOT appear on Ford's recall registry. In the overwhelming interest of public safety, we have urged Ford Motor Company to recover this vehicle and conduct its own investigation. Despite awareness and prior efforts by the Ford Motor Company to identify and correct defects in the design of the Bronco Sport, the catastrophic failure of our vehicle indicates a persistent problem and a significant ongoing consumer safety hazard. Ford Motor Company has not responded to our repeated requests and we are asking the NHTSA to conduct further inquiry.
