Summary
Some 2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a fault detected while in transport mode or a leak in the positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV). To correct the condition, perform a visual inspection of all possible sources outlined in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08B pinpoint test (PPT) HG. Deactivate transport mode and place into normal operation mode, refer to WSM, Section 419-10. Clear all DTCs, allow the vehicle to sit with key off for at least 2 hours or until engine coolant temperature (ECT) is below 45°C (113°F). Start the vehicle and allow it to idle in park (P) for at least 1 minute. Using the appropriate scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P04DB returns, perform PPT HG in the WSM.
