The contact owns a 1995 Ford Aerostar. After refueling the vehicle, the contact detected a strong fuel odor around the vehicle. The contact discovered that the fuel tank was leaking fuel. In addition, the fuel strap and the fuel inlet were cracked. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 165,000.
