Purchased. Used 2014 Fiat 500L 13 days ago for my daughter as her 2004 VW beetle shut down on her twice in the middle of traffic but nobody can find issue. Thought this car with low miles and half the factory warranty would be a reliable car for her. Today I get a call from her stating she drove the car 3 miles from our house to get a drink at a fast food place and the car started smoking badly and would not move and display said to shift to neutral. She was barely able to get the car to move any further as throttle was unresponsive. Needles to say we had to have the car towed to Portland Oregon to the Fiat dealer which cost us $200 out of pocket because neither our Chrysler dealer or our Dodge/Mopar dealer in town are certified to work on Fiats. We had the Car Fax pulled on the car prior to purchasing and it showed the transmission recall work had been completed but obviously that did not fix the problem with this car. After spending almost $14k for this car 13 days ago I am already bleeding out more money on a car my daughter is now afraid to drive as she does not want it stalling in the middle of traffic and causing an accident. I read tonight online from number of people having same problems with this automatic transmission. Fiat/ Chrysler needs to do right thing and either put the newer transmission in these cars or buy them back and get them off the road. Someone is going to get hurt or killed over a problem they know about and the recall they completed did not fix the issue. I called Fiat customer care and they acted surprised that I was having this issue. They said they opened a case and my daughter's new car is now sitting in dealer's back lot somewhere, and after reading everything online I won't be surprised when after them having it a few days they will tell me "there is no issue, this is how it's designed". Designed to fail! What!
