I was driving my 2014 Fiat 500L down the road when I heard some noise from the engine and then all of a sudden, it started smoking like it was on fire. I immediately pulled over. While on the side of the road, i could smell plastic and wire burning. I called my brother and he met me and we put it on a flat bed trailer and took it home. Within 2 days after getting it home, I notified Allen Samuels Dodge Chrysler Jeep Fiat where I purchased it. I had it towed to their facility. I waited for about 3 weeks and never heard from them. I finally contacted them and they said that they could not fix it because i did not have the extended warranty on the vehicle. I immediately took the paperwork to them showing them that I had purchased the extended warranty. The next thing they told me was that the last place I took the vehicle to get my oil changed, did not put the oil cap on it. Because of this it was not there responsibility to fix the car. I would have to contact the dealership that changed the oil. I asked them if they could assist me in this matter. The General Manager (Ted Teague) stated to me that Extended warranty was not an insurance and it not would be covered through that part of the contract. I'm guessing their idea of a contract and mine is two different concepts. I asked if they they tried to contact the dealership. They stated they tried several times and did not receive responce to their correspondence or telephone calls. By this time, I was getting very aggravated to I went to the dealership where I had my oil changed. They stated that Allen Samuels did not contact them at any time but agreed to look into this matter. Approximately 1 - 2 weeks later I received a message from Frank Kent dealership stated that FCA would not approve the claim because they stated that it was my fault that I drove the vehicle to long after it got hot, which is totally false. As of now, I have Mopar Vehicle Protection from Florida looking into this matter. They way they are talking, it does not look very favorable for me. I spent 20 years in the military and am 100% disabled. If this is the way that Chrysler/Fiat wants to treat their customers and veterans it should make people think twice before buying a product from them. Whey dealing with Allen Samuels Chrysler, I was lied to, yelled at and belittled because of my problem with that Fiat.
