CarComplaints.com Notes: Considering sales numbers and data that monitors complaints-per-make, there appears to be an unusually high number of issues with the 2012 Fiat 500. Perhaps that isn't surprising -- it is the first model year of the car, and those tend to have a higher incidence rate.
Of particular concern is the number of engine and powertrain complaints submitted to NHTSA.

I purchased a FIAT 500. I have to take my Fix It AGAIN (and AGAIN) Tony to Northtown Auto group since they are the only dealer in the area. SO FAR I've had a new transmission, the keys stopped working and needed to be replaced, new tires, rotors, breaks. Apparently the calipers were stuck causing the rotors to wear and this is "normal". The radio chooses when it feels like working, the USB port chooses when it feels like working, It smells of gas when it idles and the gas mileage is horrid.
The car has UNDER 25,000 miles. And today it leaves me sit at the coffee shop. No turning over, no clicking, just dead. I walked my pregnant self to work at the elementary school I teach at. I promptly call FIAT customer service to have it towed at 8:00 am. At 3:00 pm I called Dodge to see if they looked at it. They had not. At 4:30 I go to FIAT in person to see if anyone looked at it. They had not. At 7:00 pm I called Dodge AGAIN. They tell me they know absolutely nothing about the car. Apparently I talked to a figment of my imagination at 3:00 pm. No one ever looked at it. FIAT says they asked Dodge to send someone over this morning. Meanwhile I'm stuck in the middle with a car payment but no car AGAIN. The dealership treats me like it's my fault since they're Dodge and do not sell FIAT's. I'm stuck taking the car there because they are the only FIAT certified dealer in the area. I owe $10,000 on the car but it has depreciated so much I can't afford something else. With a baby on the way I can't be in a car that is going to leave me sitting all the time. I purchased a newer car to be more reliable. It was the worst decision I ever made. RUN AWAY FROM THIS CAR AS FAST AS YOU CAN.
