Recall 98V069002; informed of recall by friend. Took vehicle to dealer and VIN was checked, and recalled. Mechanic inspected 1st time and repaired problem. Was driving and found shifting hard. Sleeve had came off. Took back. Mechanic inspected transfer case and driveshaft 2nd time, and found nothing. Taken vehicle to transmission shop. Informed transmission was shot and bearings gone due to a lack of fluid in transfer case. The dealer indicated that all recall problems were fixed. When the consumer took vehicle again, the dealer pointed out that the vehicle needed new transmission. The consumer took vehicle to another dealer when it was determined that transfer case was low in fluid and the bearings had failed. These were recall items (#780). The consumer wants the manufacturer to reimburse him the cost of repair.
