This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I do not have exact mileage intrevals but the rear brake drums have had to be cut twice already and need it again. The truck just turned 44000 miles and is not used for work or heavy hauling. Normal driving has caused this problem which I feel should not happen. Since this is the third time the drums are out of round, I have to buy new drums as they can only be cut down a couple times and keep their safe thickness. Not only is this a costly item but a very unsafe condition as the rear brake shoes are not in contact with the drums as they should be, and the truck jerks and jolts when the brakes are applied due to uneven braking surfaces.
Driver was making a panic stop when brakes totally failed, causing rear end crash. Vehicle did not stop.front wheels locked up, but rear did not. It took dealer 2 weeks to fix defect. Also, they had to replace wheel cylinders/ springs/ pads and turn drums.
Under normal braking vehicle pulled to the left. When braking there was vibration coming from the front end, causing poor steering control. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer noted that passenger's side right calipers were sticking, also, rear brake drums were replaced due to the brakes being out of round. Consumer still having problems after visting the dealer on several occasions. An engineer from Chrysler indicated the brakes were too powerful for vehicle's weight, causing the suspension to twist upon braking.
Problem: Whole truck shakes or pulsates front to back while braking. Dealer replaced front rotors and pads in April. Problem still existed. Dealer replaced rear drums in September. Problem still exists and getting worse. Dealership does not know how to fix problem and waiting for reply from Chrysler's tech support. Dealtership won't attempt to fix until then.
While driving vehicle & would apply the brakes, they would start to flutter. Would make squealing noise when the brakes were applied. Been to the dealer & was informed the rear brakes & drums were gone. The drums were not able to be turned. Needed new brake systems.
