We lost steering due to our uniframe rusting in half - luckily we were not killed as we had just gotten off a bridge and were parking. This van, while 10 years old only had 70,000 miles and was in mint condition from street observation. When I called customer care for help - the canned response was - too old, and it was an environmental issue because we live in Ohio where they use salt - except this van was driven very little during the winter months (and other times as well - clearly with only 70,000 it is obvious). Dodge customer care was no help because I couldn't find a part to fix this from a Dodge dealership - no kidding - because this uniframe was made with cheap Chinese steel - they stopped making it!! I have read several owners with similar issues either with Dodge Ram 1500 trucks or vans. Toyota stepped up when they admitted they Tacoma trucks were rusting out and bought them back at 1.5 times sale price but Dodge refuses to admit they have a problem - I have have owned several cars, many older than 10 years and 3 times the 70,000 miles and NEVER had a frame rust out and break. The dealership I had it towed to has done everything to help us as we were out of state on vacation and had to rent a van to get home - the 6 people I spoke with at Dodge corporate just kept repeating - nothing they can do, it's environmental --- Bull@#%& - this family is never buying a Dodge EVER again!!!!!!
