The death wobble was intense, frightening and dangerous. Thank God there were no oncoming traffic on the bridge when it happened. My speed was 50 mph, hit the seam between the asphalt highway and the concrete bridge and then everything became a blur. The truck was vibrating so hard that it skated to the center line and remained. The wobble continued for 7 - 8 seconds and did not stop until the truck slowed below 15 mph approximately 20 yards or so.
Had a vehicle been coming in the west bound lane, there would have been a head on collision. I have done research on the Web, and with a local tire shop, this is not a new problem with Dodge Trucks and Jeeps. In fact I was told by the technician that it is quite common, along with tie rods and ball joints with the Dodge Trucks. Why on earth has this not been re-called or fixed by Chrysler?
My 2011 Dodge 3500 Quad cab Ram is extremely well taken care of, maintained, garaged and has only 33,500 miles on it (looks like new) and it nearly killed me today because a known problem/neglect has not been addressed or fixed by Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat. The truck is only driven in the winter in an emergency. Otherwise it is in the Garage.
It is a shame that I paid $60,000.00 for a truck that is totally unsafe to drive. Now I will make due with one of my other vehicles in every day usage or emergencies, rather than create an emergency for myself and the public by driving this truck. It is an accident waiting for a place to happen. Cost to repair is estimated at $350.00 - $500.00 So how much is a life(s) worth?
