The contact owns a 2010 Ram 1500. The contact stated while sitting in the parking lot in the vehicle, the airbags independently deployed with no warning. The contact took the vehicle to (autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Fiat johnson city, 3700 bristol hwy, johnson city, tn 37601) where the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. Consumer stated due to the explosion may have resulted in some hearing loss and continuous noise in the head of the consumer. Insurance company declared vehicle totaled.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and remained lit. The vehicle was taken to kings Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (4486 kings water dr, cincinnati, oh 45249) where it was diagnosed that the driver's side curtain air bag had a short circuit that needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 159,650. Consumer seat belt/airbag light was visable at least 2-3 years.
Warning lite for air bag deployment stays on. In shop for two weeks at this time and the auto tech and factory tech have no idea how what to repair. Wires from the dash, console, door panels (factory wire loom) are open for tracing. Dodge did not send out the proper wire schematic for the 2010 Ram. Last report was that they are guessing at a repair.
