My wife and I bought this new vehicle and drove it off the lot with 60 miles on it. We were so damn happy it was sickening. This is our third Dodge truck and it looks beautiful on the outside.
We took it in to the dealer's lube shop for it's first oil change, they lifted it up and the guy said "Are you sure this a new vehicle?" I took a look and there is severe rusting on the rack & pinion, All over the engine, between the front bushings and the frame, etc. Even the alternator bolt has deep & severe rust. To top it all off, there is so much cosmolene laquer that was sprayed to cover up the engine rust, that it looks pooled and often times smells like burnt plastic, even after 10,000 miles. The body and sheet metal is rust free, but the Lone-Star plaque fell off and the BlueDiesel plaque has peeled to the point that you can't read it.
Took it to the dealership, they took pictures and told us they'll look into it. A month later, they basically tell us to pound sand or they could get us into another 2009 (used) for $20 more a month. No way. I emailed Dodge Customer Service and we're waiting on a reply. $46,000 and the quality that we have become accustomed to from Dodge is not there.
Surface rust on cast iron is normal, but this looks like it sat on a dock at the ocean for 8 months.
Thoroughly disgusted and into it for $46,000. We will never go back the that dealership and have told everyone we know about the dealer and the rust.
We hope Dodge comes through, otherwise, this is our last.
