I was on vacation was driving back from Texas and a mile from Williams Arizona, my drivetrain broke and shards of the gearshift box went flying everywhere. Watched the four wheel drive shifter sink to the floor. Had a whole lot of clanking going on. Needless to say forward momentum came to a stand still. This is after fixing something called a death wobble while in Texas.
I'm four days into this with no quote from the mechanic and a whole lot of I'm waiting for parts and I'm swamped with work . Meanwhile, I'm stuck in Arizona in a hotel 375 miles from CA and home. So far I've had the front end rebuilt in Texas and now waiting for the rest to be fixed . Looked at towing truck home 2074 dollars for that. Looked at shipping, well they need something that rolls. Had to tell shipper three times the rear tires are locked . Meanwhile I'm still here in Williams.
So far I've had all the sensors replaced . The bracket for the steering arm has broken . That was wild too but still here to talk about it. The torque converter has a glitch and causes the truck to stall while driving down grades pulling a horse trailer . Not easy to stop when engine is not running. Needless to say as I'm writing this I'm in a hotel with no foreseeable future of getting home .
So three Dodges later I've come to the conclusion I will never buy a Dodge ever again. One day I do hope I will be home because I've seen all of Williams I ever wanted too!
Update from Apr 12, 2015: Well 3300 dollars later drive train was replaced and used transfer box put on . Drove 55 mph home with a truly white nuckle experience . Truck won't shift into park and can't get the keys out of the ignition . So no stopping for bathroom food or drinks. Made it home . Transmission shifting hard . Still has a death wobble on the front . Four wheel drive gear needs to be replaced . So off to another mechanic on Monday .
