Unsure what caused the issue. The issue is the failure and or uncertain action of the turn signals as well as the hazard lights. The turn signals at times will not function at all or will signal in the opposite direction that the switch was indicated. The fault started to occur at around 60K miles. Truck has 107K miles now and failure has increased frequency as the miles have increased. I have found that if I leave the turn signal switch alone while it is malfunctioning and adjust the tilt steering the turn signal issue may or may not resolve itself.

Turn signal sometimes shows opposite of what is selected. Phone interview update (8/26/2008): Mr. Madison was on the left turn lane waiting to turn left with the turn signal on. The motorist behind him horned and told Mr. Madison that his pickup had the right side turn signal flashing. Mr. Madison was puzzled because he had moved the turn signal stalk down to turn left. On that day and that day only, the turn signals were flashing in the opposite direction to what Mr. Madison had selected. The turn signal errors appeared on the dash indicators as well as the exterior indicators.
