The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. When he started his vehicle when it idled high and would not shut off. This caused the bell housing to blow out, which caused damage to the bottom of the cab. It also ripped the exhaust from under the cab and ripped out some wiring. The clutch and other parts disengaged from the vehicle. The VIN was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 76,000. Updated 09/18/07

When you let off the gas to slow down the engine cut off and lost power steering. It has happened 10 times in 2 years, but the last time it happened I was about to turn right; I hit a sign and scratched the whole right side of the truck. Dodge claimed we can't fix it because we don't know what is causing it.

I have an 05 Dodge 1500 with the 5.7 hemi. It has always idled low but dealer says otherwise. It starts out as a engine sputter then it dies leaving no power steering or brakes. The last time this happened I was in rush hour traffic with both lanes turning left. Very dangerous to drive. I don't feel safe with my children and wife driving this vehicle. I took it to the dealer and paid 300 for a sensor. Drove fine for a day then started doing the same thing. This has happened many times. Found many other people with same problem.

Engine stalls or rough idles whiles coming to brief stops, ie stop signs or red lights. It is usually but not always when I have run the car for the first time of the day within about 5 miles or less, and seems to occur more when outside temps are low. Updated 04/19/07.
