I spoke with the mechanic, and he stated the cause of the problem was that the 6th injector failed and froze open. This caused the number 6 cylinder to score the piston, rings, and cylinder wall. since the injector was froze open it filled the oil pan with diesel fuel, causing the crankshaft and bearing to be lubricated with diesel fuel. There by destroying the entire engine and turbo. This mechanic also stated that this engine has been known to have injectors fail with the exact outcome even with the truck was new.
Car shield said the reason the engine was ruined because it was driven less than 2 miles, and they would only pay for the injector. the mechanic stated that when the injector went the engine by the time the engine was stopped the engine was already destroyed. The engine would have been ruined in a matter of second after the frozen injector failed. This was the same conclusion that a separate diesel mechanic stated when asked if it could have been our fault. He stated the number 6 injector/cylinder get so hot it would have gotten so hot that it has been seen where it actually put a whole through the top of the piston.
